I am a theatre artist and an outreach worker from Yangon, Myanmar. I am the associate director of New Yangon Theatre Institute (NYTI) which is a grassroots, non-profit organization led by artists, educators, and students who believe that contemporary theatre can play a vital role in the development of an actively engaged, socially aware, and culturally tolerant society.

I do have a day job though! I presently work as a freelance interpreter/translator (English to Myanmar, Myanmar to English) for media professionals and journalism/media development workshops as well. My job as a translator coupled with the experiences I have had working with international theatre artists during the last 12 years of my life has expanded my sociopolitical awareness, deepened my understanding of interpersonal and international politics. I am adept in accurately assessing the context of material, and translating it in an understandable and appropriate way. I am skilled in media-related terminology and strive to bring forth a positive work ethic and a commitment to efficiency and integrity.

I have been working with Myanmar Journalism Institute since 2014 and for DW Akademie since 2017. I have also worked with other international media organizations such as IMS-Fojo and Internews. My areas of expertise and interests as a translator include, but are not limited to: journalism education, cultural reporting, election reporting, radio journalism, video journalism, mobile journalism, digital news packaging, community media, ethnic media, media and information literacy, digital security, safety of journalists, human rights, migration, gender issues, climate change and other environmental issues.
